Associate Professor of Critical Media & Cultural Studies
Nicole Richter, PhD, is a leading international film scholar whose research focuses on women, gender and sexuality in cinema. Dr. Richter is a visiting professor of Critical Media and Cultural Studies (CMC) and Film at Rollins. She teaches Intro to Film, Media, Peace, and Justice, and Critical Frameworks. She formerly served as the head of the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures and professor of film studies at Wright State University. She is the founder of KinoFemme and KinoQueer, respectively women’s filmmaking and queer filmmaking collectives. She authored the book The Moving Image: A Complete Introduction to Film, and numerous articles and book chapters including “In the Mix, the Collaborative Remix to Repair, Reconnect, Rebuild,” “1990s Dark Comedy and the Female Screenwriter,” “The Feminist Poetics of Sofia Coppola,” “The Short Films of Wes Anderson,” “Trans Love in New Trans Cinema,” and "Bisexual Erasure in 'Lesbian Vampire' Film Theory.”
