How We Support Employers

By providing highly qualified applicants from a variety of majors and minors, we can help reduce your time-to-fill metrics, thereby saving you money and improving your company's recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Internships & Experiential Learning

An educational work experience that provides students with the opportunity to gain career-related skills in a real-world setting. Internships and job shadowing can provide employers the opportunity to observe a student's performance and can serve as a pipeline for future talent. Internships may be paid or unpaid, full-time or part-time. Students can complete internships during the academic year as well as the summer. Students may also earn academic credit for an approved internship.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Why is DEI important in the workplace?

According to the Unrealized Impact study from 2017, "diverse teams are more innovative and make better decisions, and diverse companies have better shareholder returns." Time again, studies have proven that not only do folks working in a diverse setting feel safer and more comfortable to show up as their authentic selves, organizations also benefit from diversity in thought, background, and working style. Creating an inclusive environment that fosters equity is a win-win for everyone involved.

At the Center for Career & Life Planning, our goal is to empower students to seek opportunities that align with their values and identities, as well as educate and uplift employers that respect and foster those identities.

Information for Employers Hiring International Students

Employers concerned about liability related to employment of international students in the U.S. due to complicated federal laws governing non-citizens may benefit from the following information on how international students may work legally in the U.S.

Getting employment authorization for international students to work in the U.S. is not as difficult as many employers think. Most international students in the U.S. are in a non-immigrant classification of F-1 or J-1. These classifications do permit employment under certain conditions.
